The Leader
United for a Quebec of integrity and prosperity
Hans Mercier

He grew up on the family farm, which granted him the chance to experience the hardships of country life while still benefiting from the legacy of professionnal culture by parents issued from the medical and teaching domains. He obtained his english as second language teaching bachelor degree in 1998 and he quickly witnessed the flaws of an inefficient, outdated system overburdened by heavy governement and unionized bureaucracy.
Idealistic and of independant mind, he does not hesitate to question the system’s « sacred cows » and preconceptions
He then set his sights on the practice of law and becomes a member of Quebec’s Bar in 2008. Even as an intern, he already tackled the status quo without hesitation by defending individual freedoms and seeking out injustices to remedy. He fought the mighty Federation of maple syrup producers and was succesfull where many believed it impossible. He did not hesitate to defend the student’s and farmer’s freedom of association, both under the yoke of monopolistic accreditations rarely questionned. He also made it possible for the 47 families of the Lac-Mégantic train derailement tragedy victims to obtain justice against mega-corporations with compensations unprecendeted in canadian caselaw.
He is also actively implicated in his community as volunteer for goodwill organizations and professionnal order. Idealistic and of independant mind, he does not hesitate to question the system’s « sacred cows » and preconceptions. That brought him to ponder the place of the Quebec Nation in the world over the years which would lead him to his political vision.
